Young Riders & Junior Riders
Endurance South West is very keen to encourage younger members so we have discounted membership & entry fees for younger people. We also have special awards to encourage & reward their achievements.
Junior Riders are aged between 8 & 13 years (you can ride at the beginning of the season that includes your 8th birthday)
Young Riders are aged from 14 to 25.
The discounts for Junior & Young Rider membership apply to both Associate Membership & for Full Membership. Young riders save £10 & Junior Riders save £20 compared to Full (Adult) membership. The discounts that Young & Junior Riders
receive on their ride entries varies according to what ride you might enter but more details on ride entry fees are available on www.endurancegb.co.uk
All the points Junior & Young Riders attain throughout the season mean they qualify for certain special trophies such as the Junior Rider Trophy, The Blue Zephyr Memorial Trophy or The Young Rider Achievement Award. These trophies are in addition to all the others that they might also qualify for such as Novice or New Member. There are also National Awards presented to Junior & Young Riders which all SW members would qualify for too.
All riders must be able to ride off the lead rein & must be accompanied by a mounted adult (18 years & over) If you have a child who would like to ride with us but you don’t have a suitable escort rider then please inform the ride organiser as soon as possible & an escort will be assigned to your child. All our escort riders are experienced in both horse & child care.
Endurance South West is currently investigating the possibility of running a Lead Rein class at one of our rides this summer. If this is to go ahead it will be a class for lead reins ONLY, there will be no other horses on that route. It will be between 2 km & 5 km. All ponies need to be lead on foot, not mounted. Lead Rein riders must be between 4 and 8 years old. The person leading needs to be 21 years or older. If the person leading is not the parent then consent forms will need to be signed by the parent & the leader. This class will offer a great introduction to endurance & a very special rosette at the end!! Keep watching for more details.
We are legally bound to comply with a strict protocol which covers the Protection of Children & Vulnerable Adults. This protocol has recently (2017) been updated.
